The Mill LA’s team of 3D artists relished the opportunity of working on the latest commercial for Swedish pension company AMF. Filip Engstrom directed the spot which features a host of fully CG photo real insects. The star of the ad is a caterpillar who becomes forlorn after a series of trials and tribulations until he transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

Describe the brief from the client: To transform the category for premium vodka. (Absolut created the design expression for the purest vodka on the Planet). Focus on the component ‘Virgin potatoes’, instead of filtered away taste, purified several times etc. Create a powerful retail impact. Description of how you arrived at the final design: In order to reflect Karlsson’s Vodka’s unique proposition- Vodka from the finest gourmet virgin new potatoes in the world, we created an honest bottle, a bottle that speaks of the world’s first luxury vodka with a terroir. Through his deranged sculptures, we can clearly see that Eugenio Merino thinks out of the box. Somewhat controversial and morbid, these modern day pop icons are displayed like you’ve never seen them before.

This limited edition hand-blown glass wine decanter was designed by the French Etienne Menaeau, and is clearly inspired in flora. It’s eight individual feet hold one bottle of wine and are joint together at the spout on top. So yeah, if you like this as much as we do, hurry up and buy one already, as only 12 of these were made- 8 to be sold, and 4 as artist’s proofs. A couple more photos here…

Kaffe is a coffee shop started by 4 swedes. The handwritten charcoal aesthetic derives from the personal connection every person has with their type of coffee. This is reflected in a direct style of communication with business cards, bags, take away cups ect. personally adressing the customer. More pictures here.
